Caverns, spelunking and mining for gems

The alarm rang at 4:30 am. We grabbed the sleeping kids, loaded them into the car and set out on the road.  Destination:  Hershey, PA.

First stop:  Indian Echo Caverns

We arrived in high spirits as the kids slept 3/4 of the way down and had no idea we had actually been in the car for 4 hours.  The hot and humid weather wouldn't slow us down.  We headed underground to 54 degrees of pure adventure.

The 45 minute tour of the caverns proved to be not only exciting to explore but very educational.
Once we were back on higher ground, we were able to mine for gems!  Each of the kids sifted through a bag of sand and came out with a cartload of gems!!!
Pretty cool stuff and it was still only 11 o'clock in the morning!  On to stop number 2!
